What in the world is going on with Doctor Who?

Okay i am huge Doctor Who fan and I was on YouTube and I saw that the Doctor regenerates in the last episode of the season. I heard that the show was going off for one year because David Tennant was doing Hamlet. Is he gonna come back to Doctor Who in two years? Or are they going to get a new Doctor?
