Supposedly Sprite and 7up help an upset stomach....how so?

Im startin to get the tummeh flu and everyones been tellin me to drink plenty of sprite and 7up, in the past its isted (not cured though) Just curious whats in the drink that makes your stomach settle or how it works. (Sorry if this has already been asked, but im new to Q&A)
