My horse got kicked, what can I do to help heal it?

So I was riding him and we were walking along on the rail when this mare who is non-horse friendly kicked him while ping, I guess her rider ped her too close to us which makes me really mad b/c you know how it is when your horse gets hurt, i'm really ticked off. He was being such a good boy and I love him so much i hate to see him get hurt. a href="http://www.horse-diseases.com/horseanatomy.html" rel="nofollow"http://www.horse-diseases.com/horseanato…/a He got kicked a few inches above his stifle. That website has a good picture of the stifle area. He was limping and when I took him inside the barn, he was limping less. I think the hoof grazed him and pushed his stifle area not too harshly because it just like peeled off skin. I had a lot of adult boarders who helped me. I cold hosed it for a half an hour.( i knew to do that) and I put salve on it. Today it was swelled. This is normal right? I put more salve on it. Anything else I can do? It didn't need stitches really, but tomorrow if it's worse do you think we should call the vet? Has anything like this happened to you? What did you do to help. I've been grooming him a lot and giving him treats and just sitting with him in his stall. I also walked him around for 5 minutes to stretch. Am I doing everything right? Thanks for your help. I'm really worried. Could you pray for him? I love him to death...Last night (the day it happened) I slept with the first horseshoe I ever found of his. I really want him to be ok!
