What word exists to describe when a building/function has become more important than the business?
I know this is a vague sounding question. Many years ago I read a word (noun) that describes some thing such as a building or a business function that has grown to the point where the building or function has become the focal point rather than the original business function that it was created to serve. For example, a church is built to serve the religious, but the church leaders become more concerned about the building itself rather than its function to serve people. Or a business, group, or organziation that is formed to serve a particular need, but becomes more focused on itself rather than its original mission.
