Science fair project results better handwritten or done by computer?

My brother is going to the county divisionals for his science fair project and he currently has his results handwritten (chart and line graph) but it looks messy. No teacher has brought it up before as being a problem but when I first saw it, I was distraught. Would it be a problem and should he change it and do it by Microsoft Excel? What I am asking is if he will be penalized for it being handwritten.
