Any thoughts on the beginning of my story?

The art kit thing didn't really go anywhere. Plus music and art are too similar. Try a sport and the art kit or maybe school and art kit. They have more distance. Other stuff blended together. Need to relate the main person more to the reader. Think "who is my audience" and go from there. The "Hide" part was really cool.
